Today is Africa Day as declared by the African Union.
The continent & her people everywhere has come a long way. And there’s still a long way to go.
But within & outside the continent, Africans everywhere are working to build #theAfricawewant.
Africa, the continent represents diversity in its finest.
She gives the most intricately beautiful expression of Inclusion.
This year Covid-19 happened.
And it has been a struggle for Africa.
But, like we are known to do, Africans are rising up to the challenge in many ways.
Today we celebrate African Day in different ways & with a deeper consciousness of what our rich cultural heritage as Africans & people of African-descent means.
57 years of efforts by Africans to ensure unity amongst African as well as a truly socioeconomic independence.
Beyond that, we’re reflecting on what it means to be Africans who live & work outside Africa, impacting the continent and the rest of the world with our gifts, talents, skills & competences.
Building bridges around the world.
Today, we celebrate not just Africa the continent, but also every African.
We celebrate every African whose head & pride is up – working, learning, adjusting, growing, building & taking up spaces across cultural divides.
Happy Africa Day.
